Can you believe I've had these photos sitting on my computer since last fall?! Yup, that's what happens when life gets busy and you're doing all the things. But truth be told, I was delighted to rediscover them and finally get around to sharing my outfit as well as this adorable location! We decided to visit Fort Langley on a warm & early fall day, and wow, was it ever busy. We were pressed to find parking and a cute place to lunch - but in the end, we secured both and still managed to have a lovely day. But note to self, definitely best to go during the week, and arrive first thing in the morning, if you can. Especially on gorgeous weather days!
As for my outfit, it's giving professor / teacher vibes, and I'm here for it! My blazer is the school boy blazer from J.Crew (they have the most beautiful one right now) and I've been coveting it for yearsss. I added it to my closet shortly before these photos were taken and I absolutely adore it. It's such an easy staple in my wardrobe and it absolutely works with everything!! My dress is also J.Crew and you might recognize it from when we went to the apple orchard (honestly, one of my favourite posts!). For this year, I'm loving this & this dress from J.Crew and this lady jacket is a MUST as well.
Other than that, I've been dealing with some very positive health improvements, and it honestly either needs its own post or vlog. If you've been here for a while, you know I've been dealing with chronic health issues for the past 10+ years and it's mainly why my blog and social media posting can be so sporadic. If I'm being honest, it's incredibly frustrating and can absolutely get me down some days, but hopeful that 2025 will be a little easier. We're settled into our new home and I'm in a nice little groove with everything. And speaking of content creation... did you guys know I've been filming vlogs here and there on my YouTube channel? If you want to check those out, you can do so here!

Happy new week, friends! Looks like Mondays are turning into my go-to posting days on the blog - which is perfect. It's always nice to have a little bit of routine, and that way you'll know when to head over to the blog and read my latest post. Top goal for 2025? Staying consistent! Also, thank you so much for all your sweet DM's on my new domain A Hearted Life - it's been a long time coming and I'm so glad I made it official. Yay!
Bonjour Sweatshirt / Gingham Top / Eyelet Top / Puff Sleeve Midi Dress / Linen Mini Dress / Denim Jumpsuit / Raffia Crossbody Bag / Wide Leg Jeans / Knotted Gingham Slides
For today's post, I thought I'd share what I'm loving & buying from Old Navy! I've been shopping a little more than usual, mainly because I have a clear sense of my personal style and I know exactly what kind of outfits I want to wear this spring & summer. When it comes to personal style, I love adding pieces to my closet that I know will carry me from season-to-season, and for years to come. I love packing up and unpacking my seasonal clothes each year and I definitely hold onto to things for yearssss. Case in point, I still have my favourite Gap sweater 20+ years later and it's still in my yearly fall rotation.
As for the above items? How cuteee is that bonjour sweatshirt, gingham top, the denim jumpsuit and the gingham slides?! As we approach the warm weather months... I plan on living in cute tops with white wide leg jeans, or denim shorts, and all the dresses. It's my fave time of year and I'm going for all the preppy Nantucket vibes! Eeeee, can not wait! xo

Hello, friends! It's official - my blog now has its own custom domain. Welcome to A Hearted Life! Yayyy! Earlier this year, I mentioned I'd like to get back to blogging and this seemed like the perfect way to celebrate said decision. It's been a bumpy last five years for me - but we're easing back into it and I'm genuinely excited & happy! As always, thank you so much for clicking over and reading. I'm so thrilled you're here!
Here's a peek at what I'm loving:
1. I recently discovered Mark & Graham and I was SO excited to see they have a new section called Bark & Graham. Clearly, our beloved maltipoo, Poppy, is going to need one of everything! I'll probably be back on the blog to compile and write a dedicated post on all the things I'm coveting for her.
2. My Pinterest boards. It's honestly been a while since I've felt inspired visually. But lately, I'm on fire and pinning all the pretty things. I'm inspired to try my hand at a few DIY's + add little eclectic touches to our home. So naturally, I re-organized my Pinterest boards and I've been pinning like a mad woman. If you don't follow me there? I'd love to be Pinterest friends!
3. Sweet Magnolias is back with Season 4 on Netflix and I've been loving it so much! I'm always spying all the pretty interiors and love seeing Covington, Georgia. So pretty and idyllic, and so on brand for me at the moment. Are you watching too?
4. This dress!! I'm a sucker for dainty florals and this dress absolutely screams summer! I immediately want to grab my rattan tote and wander our historic town with an ice cream in hand. If you know, you know! Can not wait!
5. Scalloped lamp. I just bought the most darling scalloped lamp... however now I'm convinced I need to make room for one more. I mean, you can never have too many, am I right?! ;)
6. The ultimate summer tote. Had to do it! Went with the all natural colour way and added a red monogram. Can't wait to show you guys what I came up with for my go-to everyday tote!
7. While I wait for warmer days... I added this adorable vest (it has ruffles!) to my wardrobe. I swear, I get compliments on it everywhere I go and I absolutely love, love it!
Happy almost weekend & Fri-yay, friends. We made it! So a couple weekends ago, Martin & I headed to Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch and I'm so excited to share our photos. It's a new to us patch, and we loved it. They had lots of pumpkins to choose from (we grabbed all their tiny ones for our Thanksgiving table), a hayride, a corn-maze, lots of animals to pet, and the farm was truly beautiful. Life has been busy, and it was so blissful to escape to the country and putter around the farm for the day. We explored, picked pumpkins, and periodically sat in the shade on their red picnic tables and just took it all in. Highly recommend! We still have one more patch to cross off our list and I can't wait.
This weekend, we're ready for all the fun plans. We're heading to our friends house for their annual Halloween party. My costume is super last minute / pretty much the same as last year's. I'm dressing up as a bunny and wearing my super comfy and cozy Smash & Tess romper. Then on Sunday, we're heading to one more local pumpkin patch. It's smaller, they have a general store, and overall it has the perfect Gilmore Girl vibes - which I can't get enough of this time of year. Then on Tuesday, we'll be home and handing out candy to all the adorable trick or treaters. So, so, fun!
My adorable shacket is from Madewell (I had so many of you DM me via my Insta stories) but unfortunately it's from last year. This one is similar though, and I love this one so much too. It's such an easy piece to throw on with high rise denim, a skirt, or I even love wearing it with my black slip dress and a chunky boot. My skirt is back at The Gap and the print is my very fave! I'm still eyeing a few things for my fall wardrobe like these beautiful boots, this headband and the most perfect cardigan. Have a great weekend, friends! xo

PS - Here's a link to my hubby's shacket. It's Old Navy and he absolutely loves it. And I love stealing it for morning dog walks. Haha!

We took impromptu photos while shooting an outfit reel for my Instagram because I thought it would be helpful to pop in here and chat on how to make summer dresses work for fall. While I love adding new pieces to my wardrobe each season... I also believe in having pieces that carry me through the seasons, offer more longevity, and ultimately, it's kinder on my savings account! ;) When it comes to transitioning summer dresses into fall? I'd recommend layering light jackets, wool blazers, or adding a chunky cardigan. For shoes, I'd consider ballet flats, sneakers, or booties for cooler days. Choosing a more autumnal colour palette for your dresses will help so much too. I love black, olive, brown, and rust tones for this time of year, and prefer to save my pastel hued dresses for summer.
My dress is from Amazon (comes in a variety of colours) and it's the best Hill House nap dress dupe I've seen to date. It's one of my most worn pieces! My Chanel bag is new and if you're looking for something similar... I found this one on the resale market. What a beauty! And can't recommend this smart & preppy light fall layer for your autumn wardrobe + love this one so much too! And speaking of Hill House?! They just launched their holiday collection and it's absolutely beautiful. I'm thinking of adding this dress to my wardrobe and wearing it with cap toe block heels for our Christmas dinner.
Hope your week is winding down nicely, friends. We're hosting dinner at our house this weekend. Then doing some minor repairs around the house on Sunday. Plus, Poppy (our adorable black Maltipoo) is off to the groomers / doggy spa, and mom & dad are off to enjoy a beautiful lunch spot by the ocean complete with white wine, clam chowder and delicious dessert. Can't wait! xo

Earlier in September, Martin & I went apple picking at The Apple Barn at Taves Family Farms and the next day we couldn't wait to make gluten free apple crisp. It was our first time making apple crisp and it was so delicious. I opted for a gluten free version since my hubby is gluten sensitive but you can absolutely use regular flour as well. Also, yay, so excited to feature our new kitchen (we've been in our new house for about a year and a half) and we absolutely love the farmhouse aesthetic sooo much. In fact, when we were baking, there was an outdoor concert going on, and so naturally, we poured ourselves an autumnal beer and opened the windows to enjoy the music. It was so lovely!
You'll need:
4-5 medium sized apples
In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour and brown sugar. Add in the melted butter and stir until all is moistened. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the filling. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the apples are tender and bubbling. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, then serve in a bowl with ice cream. Here's the original recipe I used.
Voila, so easy. If you decide to make this recipe... let me know in the comments. I'd love to know how it turned out for you. We've made it a second time since, and it's definitely a new family favourite around here. Even our pup enjoyed some fresh apples while we prepped our apple crisp recipe. Ha! Hope you're having a terrific week, friends. I'll be back next week with another fall inspired post, and if you're new here?... Be sure to subscribe to get new blog posts straight to your inbox! xo

Just a few weeks ago, Martin and I were craving a little adventure - but we were both tired from a busy week and wanted to stay as local as possible. We found the perfect spot! We visited Boothroyd Coffee House in Surrey and it was possibly the most darling heritage coffee house I've ever been to. Highly recommend if you're local. It was quiet, relaxed and filled with so much character, and made for the most memorable Sunday afternoon. I had an expresso and the most delicious veggie bagel sandwich, and honestly felt like I was on a set for the coziest Hallmark film. So idyllic!
We stayed for a couple hours, also grabbed a cookie, and I grabbed a second expresso. Haha, did I mention I was tired from a busy week?! ;) As for Boothroyd Heritage Coffee... I think what I loved most was the fact that we were in a house. You can sit in different nooks and rooms, each has a slightly different feel, and it's insanely cozy. People were relaxing with friends, reading or catching up on work and had their laptops with them. Martin & I are going to Fort Langley next (so easy now that it's only 25 minutes away) and I'm excited to explore the coffee shops there as well.
For our coffee shop adventure, I wore my favourite Hill House nap dress dupe from Amazon. I'm obsessed! I've been wearing dresses non-stop lately and don't see myself stopping any time soon. Now that the weather is cooling... I'd love to start pairing my dresses with my J.Crew houndstooth blazer and sneakers, or a cute pair of booties. Or even a super cozy cardigan! I also met with my photographer this past weekend and I'm sooo excited to say I've started photographing my outfits and daily looks again. Can't wait for outfit posts to become a regular feature on my blog (who remembers my Girl & Closet days??). Let me know if there's anything else you'd love to see! xo
